The MOA rally insurance broker, K&K, can not insure an off road ride. Since we advertise an off road 'adventure ride' we can not use K&K for rally insurance.
We will use AMA insurance. However, the rate structure for AMA insurance has a 'breakpoint' at 250. If we have more than 250 attendees the insurance costs will go from @$400 to @$800. You can see the specifics in the form you can download from the American Motorcyclist site. You can view the insurance sanction application by going here: http://www.amadirectlink.com/organizers/resources.asp Then - open the document named 'AMA Road Sanction Form'. You'll need to fill this form out and mail it in along with the initial sanction fee to get rally coverage. I will need a credit card on file before your event. There will be no charge unless there is some property damage that results from your event. The broker is K&K insurance. They have agreed to insure the BMWMOA club events for 2007. The Big Bear Rally is a Class I event. The rate is $235 + 15% surcharge for the miles ridden during the poker run/adventure ride. Roughly $270.
